Carrying out an assessment

Carrying out an assessment

As an assessor, you need to make sure that the person you're about to assess will be able to do their best, without external problems getting in the way of their performance. That way, you'll know that the demonstration they show you is a true reflection of what they can do, without their performance being influenced by other factors.

The first step in getting ready for an assessment is to give the candidate the details of the process in advance. In some cases, you may have to organise an assessment event days or even weeks before you carry it out. At other times, you may be able to do it on the same day.

Whatever the lead time is, it's important that the candidate knows in advance the purpose of the assessment, how it will be conducted and where and when it will be done. Below are some hints on how to ensure that the candidate is well prepared and knows what to do on the day.
