Sample training and assessment strategies

Below are two examples of Training and Assessment (T&A) strategies. The first one covers two integrated competencies that are often delivered together. The second one covers a full qualification that requires the completion of 11 core competencies and 14 elective competencies.

You can see that the heading titles and level of complexity differs in these two T&A strategies, in keeping with the number of units covered and the amount of detail needed to cover the necessary information for the trainers and assessors who will deliver the program.

Example 1: T&A Strategy for two integrated units

Example 2: T&A Strategy for a trade qualification

Get a copy of the Training and Assessment Strategy your RTO uses for a particular qualification that you are involved in delivering.

Look up the packaging rules for the qualification on the TGA website. Check the core and elective units against the packaging rules to satisfy yourself that the make-up of the units is in compliance with the requirements.

If you are unable to carry out the above activity with a qualification you are already familiar with, you may use one of the sample T&A strategies shown above, and check it against the relevant Training Package requirements.

For a step-by step guide on how to develop and review training and assessment strategies, see the following ANTA publications.

These resources were produced several years ago, so some of the details are out of date. However, the development principles are unchanged.
